The International Open Elective (IOE) is a two week multi-disciplinary series of workshops offered by National Institute of Design. The theme for 2016 edition of the International Open Electives was 'Design for Railways' undertaken in collaborations with the Indian Railways. The aim was to seek and celebrate the tangible and intangible experiences of Indian train travel and to explore design interventions for unique challenges posed by the systems and services of Indian Railways.

Game for a cause

Railway food comes in contact with massive number of people so it is an effective means to communicate social issues. Games are an effective way as communicating to kids means communicating to the family. Classic puzzle games which are universal were taken as inspiration for the games.

Messages of social awareness are indirectly communicated through games which is a good way to remain engaged during travel.
